Mini Golf Ace is a putt putt golf app for the iPhone and iPod touch. I have yet to find someone who doesn't like mini golf and it seems only a logical move to add a mini golf game to your collection. Everyone loves the sound of the ball bouncing into the cup after a perfectly planned out ricochet shot through the arch finds its target. Mini Golf Ace tries to emulate that great experience right from the iPhone. Immediately after creating a player name, the game begins. Players will notice right off the bat that the style chosen for this game is a simple one that does not distract from the game at all. Tapping and holding on the ball will begin the shot. Pulling backwards from the ball in the opposite direction, players can choose how hard to hit the ball. After hitting the ball a few times, players will notice that the game has a few quirks. The first issue that caught my eye is how exceptionally hard it actually is to actually drop the ball in the hole. Balls hit seemingly soft enough to drop in will glide right across the hole, which is really frustrating.

The second issue I noticed was when a ball is hit hard off a wall, there is no guarantee that it will actually bounce off at the correct angle. I occasionally had a ball bouncing right back at me instead of following the path that basic physics suggest it would take. Coupled with a somewhat clunky and unintuitive camera control, this app had too many issues for me. Overall, for a minigolf game, Mini Golf Ace covers the basics. But the sometimes quirky physics and wrist-wrecking camera controls ruin this otherwise fun game for me.
