There have been many plane games to grace our iPhones over the lifetime of the app store. But there have been very few that have gotten it right and in fact most of them made us so dizzy or frustrated that we thought we'd never see a good one. MiniSquadron, although not a flight simulator, was a game that was both well-made and controlled like a charm. It was a game created for the casual gamer and had a very obvious light-hearted theme.
Now the developors have released MiniSquadron Special Edition complete with even more levels, music, planes, and weapons. This new version is essentially the same game with a new skin. The developers are trying out a new way to market their apps by offering the game for free and then charging for extra content downloads. This was great as I enjoyed the first two levels for free, but after that, the next 6 levels need to be purchased to play. There is quite a bit of new content to attack from flying kitties to helicopters.
Overall, this game is essentially a rehash of the original minisquadron and doesn't really offer a new experience. The game offers a multiplayer feature but is sadly lacking in an online version. It's free, so grab it and enjoy shooting everything you see out of the sky.
