Games » Mister Bumblebee Racing Review

Screenshot1
Mister Bumblebee Racing Champion is a racing game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This game doesn't really bring anything new to the table nor does it expand on any of the ideas that we've already seen successfully implemented in other racing games. The style is fairly interesting but the game itself doesn't offer much and is fairly short.
This game offers you one new thing that we haven't seen before in a racing game: flight. Unfortunately, it's not as well implemented as it could be. On the right hand side of the screen is an up or down indicator to raise and lower your elevation. The animation for this is nonexistent and your character just jumps up or down to the level you selected.

On the left hand side is a plus or minus sign to increase or decrease your speed. Once you set it, it stays constant.
There are only four characters, four levels, and three difficulty settings in this game. The difficulty only changes how good your opponents are when competing for the best time, so it's not like it adds much new to the game. The lack of unlockables, unfamiliar characters, and lack of more levels to play make this game hard to justify purchasing.
With all the other racers out there, it's hard to think that many people will be giving this app a chance. It's definitely interesting and could have been a better game if there was more too it, but right now it's not even something that's worth downloading if it were free. If they revisit this game and add additional levels, unlockables, characters, and fix the elevation issues, it might be worth playing through again.
