Freeverse has been pushing out some really excellent games since the iPhone App Store launched and even well before that on other platforms. One of their more popular titles, Burning Monkey Puzzle Lab has finally made its way over to the iPhone and offers up five different puzzle games for you to play through.
The five games offered in BMPL are all slight variations of the same game. They are different enough in look and game play to be enjoyable. Color Reaction has you match colored balls for a combo. Hex Bonding is all about creating rows to clear the pieces away. Test Tube keeps the balls vertical but allows you to switch their order to make matches. Mission Mode switched up which game mode you're playing every time you complete a level. And Zen Mode is the more relaxed casual game play mode.
For a puzzle game, the graphics look great and aren't too showy like Bejeweled 2. The games get very intense as you get further into them because there are over 15 different power pieces that will throw a curve ball into each game you play. If you're not sure what a certain power piece does, and chances are you won't always remember what they do, you can check out the quick cheat sheet guide they've included in the Help menu for you.
Burning Monkey Puzzle Lab manages to be more than just another puzzle game. It has enough play modes to keep you entertained so you'll keep coming back for more. While this isn't exactly a must have app, it's worth the price to put it on your games page and revisit it when you have a chance.
