With gas prices constantly changing with the result mostly being higher prices, it's nice to have an idea of where the lowest gas prices are in your area. It many not save you more than a cent or two per gallon, but money is money. MyGasWars is an app that should aid this process but unfortunately doesn't deliver.
The first problem with MyGasWars is that it is completely user driven. All of the information on this app is supplied by other users. That means that if nobody wants to use this app at all, no gas prices are going to be updated on it. The second issue is that gas prices change daily and this is a big country. If every person with an iPhone update only when they pumped gas, you still wouldn't have the best information possible.
Add into the equation the fact that it fails to locate you accurately (after multiple attempts it still shows just California) and you've got an app that needs a lot of work. There are currently web apps that offer updated information on a daily basis regarding the price at the pump. Even if that means making a bookmark icon, it still provides much more information.
Relying on your userbase to update every aspect of your app is not easy and shouldn't be taken lightly. Especially when there are other services that do all of the work for you. There is no benefit to actually taking the time to go find information and uploading it to your iPhone. In fact, that's a clear waste of time, just like this app.
