MythBusters is one of the best shows out there for techies, geeks and nerds alike. Now, there’s finally an official application to compliment the popular television series. If you’re a fan of the show, then you really must check out this application, even if it is way overpriced.

The MythBusters app is jam packed with great content from the show. Discussion is one of the main features, allowing you to talk about the show with other people via Twitter and Facebook. When you send out a message, it automatically includes a link to the app in the store, and a MythBusters hash tag. It’s definitely fun to discuss the show with other people who are just as into it as you are. At times, you may also catch a message or two from the actual cast. The entire social networking integration works very well and you always remain logged in after you enter your credentials the first time, unless you choose to log out. The “New & Now” section is basically just the MythBusters’ Facebook feed, with the options to comment or “like” the posts.

The media section contains a ton of video and photo content from the show. The videos are broken down into categories, such as cult favorites, high-speed camera shots and behind the scenes. Even if you’re not a fan of the show, these videos are usually the more interesting segments that many people will find intriguing.

The “featured” page contains the show schedule, episode guide, meet the cast and merchandise. You can find out when the next episode will air, buy episodes of the show from iTunes, find out interesting information about the cast and actually order MythBusters gear! However, when you tap on something to buy, it directs you to call a phone number to order.

Now on to the best part, games! Actually, the games aren’t that fun to play, unfortunately. There are three games to choose from: Matchstick, Seesaw Saga and Soda Bomb. Each one starts off with a video clip of that myth’s segment from the show. After reading the directions, you can jump right into the game. However, the games are just not that interesting. They do incorporate some real-world physics, and they entertaining, at first. But, they are certainly nothing you’ll come back to after the first few tries.

Overall, this application is primarily for the MythBusters fan. Even though the games aren’t that much fun, the true fan will absolutely love the great content this app has to offer. However, it’s still a tough sell at $3.99.
