Netflix is revolutionizing the way we get movies. Before, one would have to drive to the video store to select a movie and drive back once that movie was due. With Netflix, the movie comes to you in the mail and more recently, streamed over the internet. Now Netflix has released an app for the iPad so you can always be near your movies. The app syncs up with your preexisting account or lets new users sign up for a free trial.
Once in the app, you can browse through the large collection of videos offered for instant streaming. Although most of the popular movies or recently released titles are not available, there are quite a few blockbuster films to view. When you can't instant stream a video, you can add it to your queue to be mailed over to you. The app itself didn't really seem to be optimized for the iPad and instead seemed formatted for a website. This isn't too big of a deal but it does cheapen the experience on the device.
The quality of the movies was very good considering the video was being streamed from the internet but it wasn't anywhere near the quality of an iTunes video. Overall, the app is great for current users who want to stream their service to yet one more device. iPad 3G users will especially benefit also. Check it out.
