News » NetNewsWire 2.2 Review

NetNewsWire was one of the original rss fead readers that was offered for free and gave users a decent experience. Slowly more and more apps came out and I eventually weaned myself from the app, as I began using the ever-awesome Google Reader. But now, NetNewsWire is back, and has seen some amazing interface tweaks and the addition of its biggest selling point, syncing perfectly with Google Reader. Now wherever I am, I can view my feeds.

It was already possible by using the Google Reader web app for accessing your feeds, but this new iteration makes it simple and the interface is butter smooth. But once again it is not without its issues and problems. The new NetNewsWire only syncs with Google Reader.

That means all your old feeds (if you were a previous user) have to be migrated to Google Reader if you want to use the app. Once everything has been taken care of though all your feeds from Google Reader are then available right in the app and you have full control over what feeds enter your phone right from inside the app.

The new version displays annoying ads at the top but for a paid price, those ads can be removed. So overall, the new update is good for some and a nightmare for others. The addition of ads is quite annoying, but the interface is a ton smoother and faster. Check it out.
