netTV is an app that allows users to view streaming television right on their iPhone or iPod Touch. We've seen apps like this one before such as the Ustream app and they have been less than appealing. This app, sadly, is another example of a great idea that is just not functional enough to be worth it.
When I started the app up, there was a pretty large selection of channels available with 30 different ones for the USA and 200 different channels from around the world. But just selecting one confirmed my skepticism with this app as most channels could not even connect and the ones that did were so choppy that it wasn't even enjoyable to watch them.
Even if the channels would work, which I occasionally got one to do, Apple's restrictions prohibit the app from allowing streaming via a cellular network. This means the app only works via wifi even when you can get a channel in.
So overall, I spent more time just trying to access a channel than I did actually watching a program on one. The app cost is in the medium price range but with the current way it works, it was definitely not worth the price. There is a free version in the app store so if you want to try it out, grab that first. But my personal experiences with the app just did not leave it sitting in a good light.
