With the election coming up in less than a month, it's no wonder that we've been seeing so many apps focusing on politics. The App Store has such a hype around it that any political app that could catch peoples interest has the chance to become a news-worthy item. Apparently the Obama campaign saw this as their opportunity and created the Obama '08 app for the iPhone.
This app is completely geared toward keeping democrats informed on what's going on with the Obama campaign. It provides you with plenty of news, both national and local, so that you can know what's going on with the campaign on all levels. Besides loading up YouTube and the phone app, Obama '08 manages to keep everything inside of the app, meaning you don't have to exit it to read news updates.
The Obama campaign added several things to this app to help you get involved as well.
It will actually sort your contacts by their location (based on their telephone number) and suggest you call them to get them to support Obama. The app keeps track of this for you so that you don't have to remember who you have or haven't called. There's also information available regarding local events that you can join up with.
This app has a very solid presentation and performs very well for what it's meant to do. Unfortunately, it's usefulness expires in less than a month and it's definitely not an app for everyone. If you've already decided to vote for Obama and would like to follow news just related to his campaign, definitely check out this app.
