SUMMARY: Carry maps with you without an internet connection

OffMaps is a very handy utility that puts the power of maps on your device even if you do not have an internet connection. This is extremely handy for iPod Touch users especially and for iPhone users who do a lot of traveling outside of their data area.

The application does not come with any offline maps preloaded, but instead, users can download maps from all over the world for free. So picture this, you are an iPod Touch user and are taking a trip to, let's say, Chicago. You can just go online before the trip and download the Chicago area to your device and when you are walking around, you will have access to everything in the area along with Wikipedia articles and different points of interest all without needing an internet connection. Also, if you have an iPhone and you're taking a trip from America to England, you aren't going to want to get ridiculous data roaming charges. You can download the area to OffMaps and enjoy data-free maps.

The app worked pretty smooth for the most part. It uses OpenStreetMaps for it's mapping and the interface is pretty similar to the default Maps application. Downloading maps went pretty smooth and a 6 zoom level map of a city came out to be around 120 mb to download which isn't so bad.

Overall, if you fall into either of the categories I listed this app is a great solution to your problems. It's not as good as the default maps application, but it gets the job done, check it out.
