Ottomatic is a game that has been around for a little bit now. First seen bundled with some new computers in 2001, this 3D adventure showed what some of the newer computers could do as far as processing power goes. Now the game has found its way to the iPhone and iPod touch, and is showing off their graphical prowess again.
The game takes players back to the year 1957 where flying saucers have invaded earth and plan to abduct the helpless humans. These aliens are controlled by the "Giant Brain" and plan on enslaving the human race. Luckily for us though, there is a group of robots called the Otto Matics that fly around the galaxy and save helpless species like us from the clutches of the Giant Brain. Equipped with rockets to fly around with and a laser gun, you will be running around this 3D world and rescuing the humans before they get pulled up by the alien's tractor beams. The game is controlled by a joystick found in the lower left and is by far the most annoying part of the game. The camera just does not seem to follow the character well enough for the player to adequately move. The sounds and music of the game are sometimes a bit loud and obnoxious and take away from the game.
Overall, the game itself was great when it was bundled on a pc. But given there are a few other game similar to this offered for the iPhone, I can't recommend spending the money for the ported version. It is too uncontrollable and will frustrate the player more often than provide entertainment.
