Peeps is an visual contact management app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that allows you to browse through your contact list using the images assigned to them. Peeps is a nice and simple app that is definitely handy, it just feels like it?s missing some things.
When you first load up the app, Peeps automatically loads up your entire contact list and the pictures associated with them. Holding your phone in portrait mode will display all the pictures and the names associated with them three across and as many down as needed to show your entire contact list. Turning your phone sideways will essentially turn the app into cover flow mode for contacts. This is probably the coolest feature of the app and really works well.
Peeps is a full functioning contact editor as well. Whenever you tap on any of the pictures, the app doesn?t call directly.
Instead it brings you to the same screen you?d see if you were in the contacts app. Here you can press the edit button or tap the number to start dialing. Peeps also allows you to create and edit groups, which is definitely handy if you just want to browse through a certain set of contacts.
Unfortunately, Peeps falls short it a few places. The groups interface doesn?t take advantage of the contact images that Peeps seems to be focused around. Peeps could also benefit from a Facebook or Myspace plugin so that you can synchronize your contacts with the right picture. For some of you, opening Peeps my show more black pictures then contact pictures. Overall, Peeps is a cool idea. It may not be a Contact app replacement, but it definitely is cool enough to consider using.
