Planet 51 is the latest CG movie out for people to watch. With the release of a new movie, there comes a ton of crappy promo apps and a few minigames loosely based off the movie. Planet 51 Racer is a game that features all of the characters found in the movie of the same name. Essentially it is following the Mario Kart formula by giving each character a vehicle or mode of transportation and then a few powerups in floating boxes and sending them off to race against each other.

The game has 3 different modes to play through. There is a quick race, a grand prix mode, and a time trial. The game played pretty well in the time that I had it with some minor framerate issues but nothing game breaking. But what was game breaking was the amount of glitches and bugs in the game. I can't tell you how frustrating it was to be on my last lap of the game only to fall through the level and lose the race.

There really isn't too much more to say about the game. It's a fun racing game with some obvious bugs that really only exists to help promote a movie. There is a free version in the app store so I highly recommend checking that out first before plopping the money down for this game.
