SUMMARY: Practice your free throw shot with this virtual basketball game

Pocket Hoops is like the free throw game that you play at a carnival, except it completely lacks any time limit and doesn't offer a prize. While that may sound like a good thing considering you don't have to spend any money to win some stuffed animal you don't need, you also can't see your high score.

The app places you in a brick room with 6 basketballs and a hoop. You are on what looks like half of a court, but there isn't really anything pulling the balls back over towards you. There's no under netting like at the arcade either, so you pretty much have to fetch the balls yourself. This alone can be considered a game, since they go flying everywhere unless you hold it just right as it pulls back towards you.

If you don't grab the ball right, you unfortunately wind up shooting at the bottom of the hoop. The lack of ability to get the balls right at your virtual feet make it difficult to even want to progress from there. But there is yet again another challenge when it comes to shooting the ball. Sometimes the ball goes flying, other times it barely falls off your finger. If there's a trick to it, it's not easy to figure out.

Pocket Hoops doesn't really add anything to the iPhone but frustration. Considering you have to manually keep track of your high score and timer as they don't supply it, plus fetch the balls yourself, it's more like you're playing ball boy then actually playing ball.
