Pocket Piano Song Universe is a music app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that take the Pocket Piano app one step forward. This entire app is about creating, sharing, and learning music directly on your device.
There are plenty of piano apps and apps for other instruments out there, but none of them seem to teach you how to play the specific song. This app is like a combination of Rock Band and Pocket Piano. When you load up the app you?ve got two options to select from: compose a song or learn a song. If you?re ready to make your own music, click compose a song. This area lets you set up your keyboard exactly how you would like it. After that, press record and go to town.
You can also learn a song, which is probably what most people will use this app for. When you press the learn a song button you?ll be presented with a search songs menu. Here you can search by title, artist, and genre plus select how the results are ordered. At launch it doesn?t seem like there are a ton of songs, so your best bet may be to just search everything. When the results pop up they show all of the information entered in by the user to inform you what song you?ll be downloading. Once you start playing the song, you?ll see the similarities to Rock Band as the notes fall down from the top and line up with your piano. This is a really great way to learn how to play a virtual piano.
