Potpourrii is another elimination game for the iPhone and iPod Touch that tries to change the formula up a bit. The game's story is about a civilization of leprechauns that have lived peacefully up until the point where an evil wizard comes and messes up all the seasons. The goal of the game is restore order by shooting different spirits from the seasons and restore power back to the magic oak. If that confuses you, don't worry, the gameplay is way more simple.
Basically, there are different color spirits that need to be shot towards the middle of the pool. Each spirit has a colored aura around them that shows what color needs to hit them to make them disappear. If a group of one color are hit by the color they need, they are eliminated and fill some of the oak's power.
The gameplay of Potpourrii is interesting but sometimes a little bit too simple. The game's speed increases as you complete the seasons providing the only true difficulty change overall. The sounds and graphics in this game are wonderful and really serve as a true redeeming factor fit with the sometimes mundane gameplay.
By spinning the wheel, players can pick up the nearest spirit being produced and shoot them towards the center. This is the whole of gameplay and it is not hard to see why this game lost its appeal to me pretty early on. If you are looking for a game that will keep you entertained for hours, Potpourrii is not that game.
It's pretty obvious the game is meant for quicker bouts against time and really, its price shows that. Offered for dirt cheap in the app store, Potpourri may be worth try out. But adding to the collection of elimination games out there, it just did not have enough interesting gameplay to stay on my device.
