Print & Share is an app for the iPhone & iPod Touch that allows you to print documents, emails, contacts, web pages and photos wirelessly, right from your device. It really does add a much needed feature to the iPhone and the experience is seamless.
The app's main screen displays six main choices for selection. You may choose to print a file, email, web page, contact or image. You may also use the iPhone's camera to take a photo and print it immediately. From this main screen you may also access the help menu and change the settings.
The files screen will list all of your stored files to view, print, email or export to your computer. Viewing a document utilizes the standard pan and zoom features found in most applications. You can view documents in portrait or landscape mode and in fact, you can use the entire app in landscape mode, which is a real plus. You have a few choices to actually get files onto your device. The two main methods are to create a new file right on your iPhone or to copy files from your computer using the "WePrint" server. The server is a free download that runs on your computer and automatically creates a folder to drag files into. Once a file is in the folder, it appears on your device. The "create a file" option allows you to use your device as a basic text editor to create a file to print, email or export to your computer.
Email is a really great function of this app. You can actually enter your information for multiple email accounts and retrieve your email right from inside the app. Once your email is synced, you can print an entire email or an attachment. I set up my Gmail and Yahoo accounts, both of which I had no problems with.
Entire web pages may be printed as well. You can enter in a url to use the app as a browser. You can also import your bookmarks from your desktop browser to keep all your favorite sites easily accessible. Printing these pages is as simple as printing a file.
The contacts page is a very simple concept. You can search your contacts or scroll through them right from inside the app. You can select one or multiple contacts and print out all their available information.
You may also print out images that are saved on your device, or use the camera to take a new photo. You can select one or multiple photos and set what size to print them, such as 3x5 or 5x7.
Print & Share is truly an amazing application. It's convenience alone makes it worth the price. With this app, you're basically cutting out the computer as the middle man. Now, you can print a variety of files right from you device. It works on 3G or wifi and the whole experience is smooth and fast. The user interface is beautifully done, with seamless animations between pages and the incorporation of landscape mode. This is an app that will stay on my iPhone indefinitely. I strongly recommend checking this app out.
