Until now, video on an iPhone 2G or 3G was only possible if the user jailbroke their phone. Apple would not allow any applications to record video because the iPhone wouldn't support it. Well now Apple has finally decided to allow apps to use video regardless of the type of phone and so we have Qik. Qik Live is an app that will stream video live from your iPhone straight to their online site.
These videos can then be shared via Facebook or many other social networking sites. The app works wonderfully over Wifi and 3G but stuttered along on Edge. It requires that you have an internet connection to even use the app.
There aren't too many features on the app that stand out but the thing takes video and that makes it a winner by default. While users are streaming, they can see how many people are viewing and even share and receive comments.
This is perfect for those of you who want to show a live event or just offer an update to friends. There is the huge issue of battery life which the app tries to solve by shutting off the camera when it's not being used. The best part about this app is that it is free. There is no reason you wouldn't get this app unless you have a 3GS so check it out. Also check out our review of the Qik VideoCamera app.
