More racing games! The iPhone has been flooded with 3D racing and kart games since it's launch and Raging Thunder is another one added to the list. This game follows along with the standard format of most racing games like Asphalt 4, but was created by the developers of Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart.
The entire game has a very Crusin' USA feel to it. You're racing against either the CPU or up to three other opponents (over it's WiFi multiplayer). Every checkpoint you break through adds some more time to your clock so you can make it to the end of the race. There are even a few powerups in the game that let you boost and draft your way to first place.
The graphics are pretty sharp and the controls can be customized to your needs. Unfortunately this is another game where the speed is completely controlled by the game itself. What's weird is the lack of braking. That means that you've got to really turn the iPhone hard to avoid slamming into the walls over and over again.
This game feels exactly like every other racing game we've had a chance to play, so it isn't anything special. The graphics do look great, but their claim that they have the most breathtaking graphics on the iPhone to date is a little bit too bold. If you don't already have a racing game for the iPhone, you may want to check this one out. If you do, you're not missing anything.
