The Rayman series was huge in the N64 days and even pushed through into the Gameboy and Nintendo DS platforms later in its lifetime. Now the game that started Rayman's 3D adventures, Rayman 2, has been released for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The game features the popular armless, legless hero known as Rayman who is on a quest to save his world from the invading robot pirates. Aside from harboring one of the coolest plots ever, this game offers 45 environments rendered in full 3D.
The game itself is controlled by an onscreen joystick and various buttons that appear when needed. The graphics were pretty good for an iPhone although I did have some stuttering while playing. One very disappointing feature, or lack thereof, was the absense of any auto-save. If you need to get out of the game for any reason, it will start you back at the beginning of your last level when you reopen. This was a real annoyance and I would expect this problem to be fixed in a near update.
Aside from the minor hiccups and lack of saving, this game still brings a fun story and experience to the iPhone platform. It's still Rayman but now controlled with touch. This game is priced a little higher than I would have liked, but it is still a fun game. Check it out.
