Real Racing is yet another racing game for the iPhone and iPod Touch being released by the excellent developer Firemint. This new racing game is looking to add even more content to the racing genre for the iPhone and does this wonderfully. The game features five different game modes to play through with everything from a well-thought out career mode to a local multiplayer mode where players can race against each other. The game is one of the best racing games I have ever seen on the iPhone. The graphics, audio and presentation of the game easily challenge the top racing games for the device currently on the market. The game tries to closely emulate the feel of the cars and different surface traction and really feels amazing while you are playing it. Players can tweak their settings to fit their driving style.
Everything from changing your control scheme to turning from automatic to manual can be customized in this app. Their is even options to play your own soundtracks and upload your best laps straight to Youtube. The game's environments really add a great atmosphere for the races and suck you in as a player. The only true complaints I could come up with for this game is that the AI is a bit aggressive and will bump your car a bit too much than is accepted in a real race. But that actually adds to the experience for me, some racing enthusiasts may be turned off by that though.
Overall, Real Racing is an excellent game for the iPhone and even though it is priced at a higher point, it is miles ahead of most of the racing games that are out there, check it out. It is definitely worth your money and if you have friends with iPod Touches or iPhones, it will make this game even better.
