Soccer games seem to be one of the more popular sports games for any console considering how worldwide of a sport it is. So there's no wonder that we're seeing a soccer game for the iPhone. This 3D soccer game puts you in control of some of the greatest teams in the world with their up to date rosters.
You're given plenty of game modes to choose from, including: scrimmage, season, and training. It's a good idea to do the training to get a handle on how the game works and how you need to control it to properly enjoy it. The game itself is in 3D and does a pretty good job at keeping the frame rate constant too.
The control scheme is all based on a D-Pad and two buttons located directly on the iPhone screen.
So while the game does technically use the touch method of play, you won't be direction your players around the field or kicking/passing the ball by tapping it. The controls work very well and are very responsive to touch, so you won't have to worry about messing it up.
It's difficult to really get into a sports game on the iPhone. There's nothing really iPhone-centric about this app, so it doesn't have that luster and appeal that most creative iPhone apps do. If you're a fan of soccer you should absolutely get this app. Everyone else could probably sit this one out though.
