Rick Rocketson is a side scrolling adventure game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This game is meant to bring back the Amiga-style platform experience and it captures it to a T.
The game handles like your normal platformer adventure game. On the left hand side of the screen you have the left and right controls. On the right you have the left and right controls plus the buttons for your primary gun and your grenades. This may seem weird that they split up the D-Pad, but it actually makes controlling Rick that much easier. You can also play this game in either landscape mode or portrait mode, depending on your preference.
From the graphics to the music, everything about this game screams classic platform experience. This version of the game is the free version, offering five different levels for you to play through. Each level is challenging enough to get you interested in the final version of the game if you?re a fan of platform adventures. If not, it?s definitely still enjoyable enough to keep you entertained for through all five levels.
Rick Rocketson is a simple game that doesn?t really take advantage of the iPhone hardware in any way. That?s not a bad thing as everybody love a little retro gameplay now and then, but it?s not for everyone. This free version is fun enough that it?s worth checking out, but upgrading to the full version is something you?ll have to decide after you?ve beaten this version. Regardless, definitely give this app a try.
