Saturday Night Fever is a music game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. While we?ve already seen titles like Tap Tap Revenge on these devices, this game has a completely different feel and style to it.
If you?ve ever played the game Elite Beat Agents for the Nintendo DS you?ll immediately be familiar with the gameplay. Basically what you do is tap on numbered buttons as the circles line up directly with them. This all coincides with the beat so keep that in mind while you?re tapping away. The more accurate you tap the higher the score you?ll earn and the larger your multiplier will get. Once you?re on a roll for awhile, the button in the bottom will start to flash allowing you to perfect all the buttons on the screen when you press it.
If you couldn?t tell by the name, this game has a 70?s theme to it. The music and character models all follow this style. You can select one of two different characters to play through the four different songs in either single player or multiplayer. Multiplayer allows for you to play over WiFi with two devices or play hotseat mode if you only have one.
Saturday Night Fever is enjoyable to play, but it?s not without its flaws. First off, it?s hard to see the circles line up with the buttons, especially when there are multiple circles on the screen. Second, there?s plenty of times where multiple buttons are under each other and the only way you would know that is by noticing the next exposed button is three numbers away or you see all the different rings circling it. Third, there?s only four songs. Granted, two of them have extended versions, but they?re still the same song. Saturday Night Fever is a great concept and works fairly well, it just doesn?t have enough to keep you entertained.
