SaveMyDocs is a handy utility for the iPhone and iPod touch that allows you to easily download documents directly to your device and view them. For most iPhone and iPod Touch users, this app will definitely come in handy.
SaveMyDocs is very simple to use. The first tab is the download tab. Here you?ll enter in the URL of the file that you want to download and simply press the download button next to that field. SaveMyDocs can download the following file types: DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, RTF, TXT, JPG, PNG, GIF, PDF, and HTML. You can also follow a series of instructions laid out on the website to create a bookmarklet to make the process of downloading files possible through Safari.
Once you?ve downloaded the file, you can view it in My Documents. Here you?ll see a folder listing out all the apps that you?ve downloaded with their size and the date you downloaded them listed under their name. Tapping on the file will load it up in either portrait or landscape mode, depending on how you?re holding your device. Landscape mode makes reading the document that much easier in most situations.
SaveMyDocs is really useful app for anyone who needs to read documents offline or grab documents while they?re on the go. The only two features this app seems to be missing is a way to select the page number you?d like to go to for longer documents and the ability to access the folder you?ve downloaded these documents to through WiFi. Regardless of what they could have added, definitely check this app out.
