Searchme is an interesting take on searching the web on your iPhone and iPod Touch. Instead of simply seeing a list of whatever that search engine managed to pull up for you, Searchme will display each page as an image so you can see what?s on the page before going there.
When you load up the app you?ll be presented with a search bar. Enter in the term you want to search there. As you type, you?ll notice that it lists out a bunch of categories for you to search in directly. This can help you save some time if you know what you?re searching for. When you press the search button, the app may offer you a suggestion as to what it thinks you really meant.
This can be minorly frustrating and would be great if it had an off feature.
When the results come up, they?ll be layered in what looks like cover flow mode in the iPod app. That makes it fairly easy to navigate through and really easy to make sure you?re going to the right page. Below each page is a little blurb of information from that site. When you?re ready to go to a specific site, press that box of information and the site will launch in the Safari app.
This would be a really neat app overall if it didn?t use its own search engine. Searchme?s results are completely different then Googles, so if you?re use to the Safari search bar, chances are the transition to Searchme won?t be a pleasant one. If this app used the Google search results it would be amazing, but unfortunately, it doesn?t.
