Sentinel is a futuristic tower defense game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. All of us are familiar in some way with the tower defense genre of games and the iPhone is not lacking in that department. Sentinel looks to add to the collection of tower defense games with it's futuristic focus. Earth has made it into space and now must protect itself from the invading aliens that are attacking. The player has 6 different units to strategically place in order to survive the onslaught. There's the laser, bomb, slow, beam, and sniper units for attacking and there is a drone unit for repairing and harvesting resources.



The game offers a definite challenge as the types of units that are attacking change with the ever expanding rounds. There is a pause button allowing for a breather and a quite survey of your resources and you will definitely be using it as the level difficulty increases. The graphics and sounds in this game are great and lend themselves to an intense battle-like feel to the game. The game play in Sentinel is also smooth with the controls being very upfront and easy to manage.



If you are a fan of tower defense type games and are looking for a new arena and landscape to fight your battles and protect your assets in, Sentinel is trying to provide that. There are 3 different maps to play on with 4 different difficulties, so the replay value of this game is definitely high. Overall, Sentinel is fun but does not add much new to the tower defense genre. There is a free version in the app store, so I suggest checking that out before buying.
