SHOUTcast Radio is another streaming internet radio app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This specific app allows you to browse through and listen to the over 25,000 SHOUTcast stations available.
This app is really easy to navigate and use. It?s broken down into four different tabs that make those 25,000 stations seem like they?re nothing. The stations tab allows you to search through the stations by genre. Favorites is where you can revisit stations you?ve marked to listen to again.
Recent shows you a list of the most recent channels you listened to. And search lets you dig through all of the stations using keywords to find what you?re looking for.
When you?re viewing the channels through whichever tab, you?ll see the name of the channel, what they?re currently playing, and how many listeners they have. This information won?t really help you out a ton as the number of listeners also relies on the time you?re viewing the station. Although a station with more listeners is obviously one of the more popular stations you should look into.
This app is built on the same platform that AOL Radio was built on so you?ll notice the similarities. The connection is great over 3G and WiFi and not so bad over EDGE. Expect to find a lot of new music and stations with this app if you give it a chance, but for many of you, you?ll probably stick with Pandora or the other internet radio apps you currently use instead of switching over to this.
