Siberian Strike is one of the best shooters I've played on the iPhone and is a welcome addition to the app store. The game takes place after WWII and you must fight the forces of the evil Stalinbot who happens to be a genetic cross between Joseph Stalin and the Mir Space Station. It that weren't crazy enough, Stalibot runs a vodka distribution company and plans to distribute its diabolical vodka to all the good people in the free world and must be stopped! I swear I couldn't make this up if I wanted to!
In order to fight Stalinbot's forces, you pilot one of three aircraft. You have the choice between R-51 Thunder, P-69 Conquest, or B-87 Sicarius. All three are slightly different in speed and fire power. The fastest plane has the weakest fire power and the slowest plane has the strongest. You control your plane by touching the screen and moving it around while the plane is constantly firing. The plane will automatically fire as long as your finger remains on the screen. A second finger can then be used to set off additional smart bombs. The game is so well designed that you will barely notice your finger covering any part of the screen and it does not hinder gameplay in anyway. As you destroy other enemy aircraft various medals and power-ups will appear on the screen. The power-ups consists of heavier firepower and even addition wingmen to help you in your crusade for a brief period of time.

There are 12 levels to fight through of wave after wave of enemy aircraft along with a boss at the end of each one. You'll fight through various locations consisting of canyons, tunnels, secret locations and others.
The graphics and sound in this game are great. The animation is smooth and didn't stutter once, even with bombs and explosions going off everywhere simultaneously. One of the many pluses of this game is the amount of voice acting that is reminiscent of the 80's coin-operated arcade games. There is a considerable amount and would explain why the download is over 100mb. The game also implores quite a few cut scenes that are fun and entertaining to watch, giving your fingers a short break.
The storyline is quite humorous and adds to the overall entertainment value of the game. I mean, honestly, who wouldn't want to fight the communist Stalin and his evil vodka empire?! What excites me most about this game is that it shows the potential of where mobile gaming is heading. I remember years ago being excited about a simple slot machine game that came with my cell phone. Now we're getting to the point of having voice acting and cut scenes. It doesn't get better than that.
