Games » SimCity Review

SimCity for the iPhone and iPod Touch is a full featured version of the classic game brought over to your handheld device. This game has been recreated for your device and isn?t just another port that barely works. In fact, this game may even be comparable with the latest computer version of this series.
This game is built for veterans and rookies alike. Unless you consider yourself a SimCity expert, it?s probably best that you play through the tutorial mode. This will give you a good grasp on the basics of starting your own city. Once you get a handle on that, you?ve got the option to either start your own city or jump in to one of the two preexisting cities. If you choose to start your own city, you?ll be able to select from one of three different difficulty levels, the year you?d like to start the game in, what size city you?d like to manage, and the ability to toggle disasters and auto budget on and off.
When you get into the game directly, you?ve got a lot of controls that you have to monitor. On the left hand side you?ll see most of the building options available to you. These option include zoning, transportation, utilities, buildings, and bulldozer. At the bottom, you?ll be able to change the view, get information about parts of your town, control the speed of play, and the menu button. This game is definitely complex, but having the ability to pause things and just take a breath makes it that much easier to manage once you get a huge city up and running.
It?s hard to believe that there are people out there who haven?t played SimCity before. This series of games is one of the most legendary simulation games to have ever graced a computer screen. If you?re a fan of the franchise, enjoy sim games, or you?re just looking for something new that you can sink your teeth into and keep coming back for more, definitely check out SimCity for the iPhone and iPod Touch, you won?t be disappointed.

Simcity - Casual Review

User rated 4/5
Review by daf100

Control:
This game has pretty good control. This is because considering the complexity of the game, I think EA did really well to "change" the PC controls and turn them into iPhone/Ipod Touch controls. The only bad thing is that when trying to create certain roads or zones, it may be hard to see what your placing, where your placing and how much grid lines you have used because your finger may get in the way sometimes of the screen.
Fun:
Great fun, all the feautures of SimCity 3000, on the iPhone. All 30.9 mb of this game is 100% enjoyable. There's nothing better than having your very own personal city in your pocket. The game it self is a great sim, for rookie and profesional alike.
Graphics:
Graphics are good at most ranges, but once you get to the closest or close views of your city, things can get a bit unclear or unrefined. But you won't really get to those view level choices often though. I personally stay at zoom in x3, so things are fine.
Replayability:
Invariably this game offers so much replayability. Almost limit-less possibilites to creating your very own city. Probably one of the most replayable games out on the App Store. If you really want to maximize your money, then look no further becasue SimCity is one juicy package.
Sound: Great sound, the background music in the menus and during game-play fit the SimCity theme well. Relaxed and soothing. Good sound effects for buttons and etc...
