Sky Coaster 3D is a roller coaster simulation for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The app attempts to simulate that feel of a roller coaster, the rush and the beauty all on your device. It will have you loop-the-looping, corkscrewing and spiraling downward in some beautifully generated tracks and landscapes. The random track generator allows the user to set the frequency of different roller coaster events and also the maximum height and length of the track.
Users can also customize the gravity of the environment as well as choose from 11 different panoramic landscapes to ride your crazy coaster in. Music is played along with the ride if you choose as well. Once in a track and well on your way to a frightening ride, you have the option to choose from many different settings.
You can switch from the conventional riding position to a suspension type coaster, as well as change the type of track from steel to wood or futuristic. While riding the track the user can also look around with one finger and double tap to center their focus again. With the 1.3 update, users can now save tracks they have enjoyed for future riding pleasure.
Overall, this app is a waste of time in my opinion and does not offer anything but a small taste of what a real roller coaster offers. In Japan, this app took off. But I have a hard time seeing how this app will do amazing in the US. There is a 2.0 update coming out soon that will give users the option to customize their own tracks which will add a lot, and my review score will be based off that feature being included. It is offered at a cheap price in the app store, so maybe check it out and see if you have more of a use than I do for it.
