Snail Mail is a game for the iPhone and iPod touch that has you guide Turbo the Snail on a mail delivery run throughout the entire galaxy. This game brings the adventure racing genre to your device in full cell shaded glory, offering an experience that we haven?t seen before on this platform.
Your objective in this game is to collect all the packages along the course without dying. If you hit any of the big spiky creatures, salt, or fall off the edge, it?s pretty much a game over. You are equipped with a gun on the top of your shell to help you blast away at the asteroids, but most of what you?ll be doing is avoiding the different obstacles in the level. There are two different ways to control Turbo: Touch and Tilt. Tilt is the default control scheme and it?s not awful, but it?s very difficult to actually handle the more difficult courses without dying.
If you switch it on to touch, things get a lot easier to control and you?ll find that you?re less likely to fall off the edge.
In Snail Mail, you can either play through the story mode called Postal, test your skills in the Challenge mode, or beat the clock in Time Trial. Whichever mode you choose, the game offers plenty to keep you entertained. The core of the game, making it an adventure racing game, is the Postal mode. There are over 50 levels for you to journey through in an attempt to get the highest score possible.
The graphics in this game are excellent. It seems to be a mix of cell shading and 3D graphics, giving it a cartoony feel. If you enjoy adventure racing games of the cartoony nature or you?re looking for a unique game for your iPhone or iPod Touch, definitely check out Snail Mail.
