SnapTell is a very handy app for the iPhone. It allows you to take advantage of the camera on your iPhone to find out more information about DVDs, CDs, Video Games, and Books. All you need to do is snap a picture of their cover and then let SnapTell handle the rest. You'll be surprised at how quickly and accurately it will find the information you're looking for.
In our review of this app, there was never any reason to retake a picture. SnapTell recognized the cover of the product on the first shot and brought up the all of the information it could find for it. Depending on the product, your options for additional information will be: Buy from Amazon.com, IMDb, GameSpot, WikiPedia, Rotten Tomato, or the Google and Yahoo search results. All of these locations load up right in the app itself.
Once you've looked up an item, the information remains in your SnapTell Explorer screen until you delete it. You can leave it there for later reference or remove it if you don't think you'll need to come back to it later. The fact that you can finish an entire transaction through Amazon.com with this app just adds to how impressive this app is.
When it comes down to it, this app is just a novelty. Then again, most of these apps are. You could just as easily search the name of the product you're looking at as you could snap a picture and wait for the results. It's really up to you on preference, but if you choose to snap a picture, SnapTell is your best bet.
