Snow Patrol Interactive Booklet app is the first app of its kind to hit the app store. Available for both the iPhone and iPod Touch, this app is essentially a virtual version of the booklet we would find within the cd case if we purchased the actual cd. This was made with the idea that those buying the CD through iTunes would have a new way to experience that material that was unique to their device.

The app isn't very complex and isn't something you'll care about if you're not a Snow Patrol fan. Basically, it's a black field littered with 3D origami stars that are actually interactive. There are multiple levels you can zoom through in this star field, with each one having interactive stars.

To open any of the stars, tap on them then pinch open. This will either provide you with one of 12 handwritten lyrics sheets, a credits page, one of three making of the album videos, or the Snow Patrol web links. It's definitely an interesting approach to providing the material in an interactive fashion.

While you may not like Snow Patrol, this sort of app could very easily catch on. The iPhone and iPod Touch are new interactive mediums for artists to work with. We've already seen Nine Inch Nails and Pink make their way over to the iPhone and iPod Touch in one way or another. Only time will tell if this actually catches on and fans start enjoying this sort of thing.
