Sonic Lighter has hands down beaten all of the other lighter apps. Since this app launched, there really isn't a reason to download any other lighter app. That doesn't mean that this is an amazing app on its own. In fact, it's actually kind of a weird app and has been receiving a lot of publicity for being a ?cult? like app.
This app is part lighter, part networking. On the lighter side, you flick the lighter to start up the flame, but that's just the beginning. You can drag your finger through the flame and actually see it create a void in the flame. It also works very well with both the accelerometer and the microphone to create a realistic lighter effect. The downside to this? Good luck keeping your virtual lighter lit at a concert, the volume will blow your flame out.
If you double tap the screen, Sonic Lighter enters its networking mode. Now we're not talking getting in touch with people. We're talking a full out 3D globe that shows you everywhere in the world that people are using this app. Your lighter will show with a little bit of a blue glow around it while everyone else is just a bright yellowy/orange. This is actually a lot cooler than it sounds. The other social feature of this app is that if you put it close to another iPhone with this app open, it will actually light that iPhone up.
Sonic Lighter is pretty cool for a lighter app, but it's still just a lighter app. It's a novelty app for the iPhone and nothing more. If you really want a lighter app, then this is your best bet, but it's not going to be useful in any situation. Then again, not all apps are supposed to be!
