Soul Trapper is an audio adventure game for the iPhone and iPod Touch that places you in the shoes of Kane Pryce, ghost hunter. This game style is surprisingly new to the iPhone, as it brings you on an audio-based adventure with still image visuals and the ability for you to choose your direction.
This game is essentially an audio choose your own adventure book. Most of the time you'll be listening to the story that is unfolding through your headphones, but at any major crossroad, the decision is yours. When it's time to make a decision, you'll find yourself staring at a screen with multiple arrows as Kane narrates where each one leads. There isn't much in the way of visuals in this game, but the images they do provide are pretty well done.
The story for Soul Trapper has that Ghostbusters feel to it. There's just enough action and plenty of cheese lines to make you chuckle while playing this 3+ hour game. Depending on how much you're willing to explore, you could extend the gameplay a good deal.
You can't really compare Soul Trapper to any other game on the iPhone. You will honestly get sucked in and find yourself spending a good deal of time playing it without even noticing. This isn't a pick up and play game at all, but the developers do a good job at making it easy to end a chapter so you can pick up where you left off. For the amount of time this game will capture your attention, it's definitely worth the money.
