SUMMARY: Space Invaders. Bumped up.

All right, Space Invaders. Been here, done that. Just shoot the UFOs before they shoot you and – WHOA! What is this? This is not the Space Invaders I remember. This is something much better.

Space Invaders Infinity Gene is a remake of the classic game we all know and love. This game has been amped up to a fast-paced, thrilling new experience.

When you first start playing the game, you’ll be introduced to the “evolutionary tree.” This is the area where you will be selecting your levels. Other branches will be created when you reach the next level or if you unlock an extra level.

Clicking the start button throws you into what seems to be the traditional Space Invaders game. This only lasts for a few seconds, though, and then the fun begins. You start moving forward at high speeds while destroying hundreds of attacking starships. Enemies usually only last on the screen for a few seconds before you kill them or they get away, so that you’re not left with that last pesky spaceship that you just can’t hit like in the original game.

To control your character, just touch any part of the screen and move in the direction you desire. This works surprisingly well, as you don’t have to tap right over your spacecraft and hinder your view of the vehicle.

The unlockables are one of the greatest aspect of this game. There is so much to unlock: from different ways to shoot, to adding more players to your stock. The game features great classic arcade-like sounds and some really unique and catchy background music. The graphics stay true to the original and the animation holds up great. There could be dozens of enemies shooting at you while you frantically dodge hundreds of lasers, and the game never slows down.

A great game mode included is a music mode through which players can choose any song in their library, and a unique course is created based on the makeup of the chosen song. This adds a lot of replay value to this already addicting game.

Some people might find the price tag a little high for a Space Invaders game, but once you play this game, you will understand all of the hype. It’s very polished and jam- packed with content that will keep you playing until your eyes hurt. If you like video games, buy this application.
