SUMMARY: Add feeds and follow the latest all in one app.

Sponge is essentially an advanced feed reader. The app gives users the ability to see feeds from many different social sites and RSS feeds. If you have a large amount of accounts, this app may be one for you. It takes information from Facebook, Twitter, RSS feeds, YouTube, Gmail, and Flickr. The app will connect to your accounts and any updates will immediately show on the screen. The app has one of the best interfaces I have seen on the iPhone. It's simple and elegant in a way that seems to complement the iPhone's hardware and interface. But an app is nothing without offering a service. This is where Sponge has left much to desire.

The app accomplishes bringing users an quick look at updates, but it doesn't work as a replacement for a good reader app or the official apps put out by companies. It doesn't have renaming features or options. You are simply given the choice to link to the site, view, and eventually delete. Users can post to Facebook and Twitter, but the experience is far less useful when compared to other apps.

Overall, the app is a wonderful example of great interface design, but it lacks in usability. It is priced way too high for the service it is trying to offer and unless it plans to update and build a more robust application, I don't recommend grabbing it. It works perfectly, but is just too empty.
