The Star Wars series is huge. The series has netted billions of dollars in merchandise sales and it comes as no surprise that the games have done just as well. But what does come as a surprise is when an officially licensed Star Wars game hits the app store and delivers a terrible experience. Star Wars Trench Run is a game that was released by the popular iphone flight simulation company Infrared5, the same company who created iFly. The game takes the player through the climax of the series when the X Wings blow up the Death Star.
Players will have to dogfight their way to the trenches, destroying Tie Fighters with their expert flying skills.
After that, players will have to dodge through the trenches, dodge Darth Vader and eventually launch a shot into the exhaust port to blow up the Death Star. All in all, the entire game lasted me about 10 mins. The controls for the X-Wing feel decent enough but the lack of any depth in the game make it one of the lamest games I have played in a while. There is really no inherent danger while playing and playing through the trenches was slow and monotonous.
There really is no replay value in this game at all. The original footage is used as cutscenes but that does not justify the absurd price being charged for such a small game. I recommend passing on this game. There is really nothing to it at all.
