SUMMARY: A fun and addicting traffic management game

Stop and Go is all about trying to keep cars from crashing into one another by controlling the traffic lights. The concept is simple, yet the gameplay is fun and addicting. The only major drawback is the lack of any type of sound whatsoever!

The game includes six levels of varying difficulty. Each level must be unlocked by achieving a minimum score in the previous level. If you get fifty cars safely through the path, then the next level gets unlocked. However, getting those fifty cars to safely travel along the roadway is easier said than done. The cars automatically travel through the roads at varying speeds. You have your slow yellow busses, fast red sport cars and every other car and speed in between. Cars will travel in different directions and through the same intersections. You are in control of the traffic lights, tapping to change them from red to green. If you have some cars with a green light, others will have a red light and traffic will quickly build up. If there are cars lined up beyond the edge of the screen, you’ll receive a visual warning and cars will eventually push forward through the red light. The result can only be disaster. A crash will end your game and reset your score to zero. In order to achieve the highest score possible, you’ll need to time your light changes precisely. As soon as you tap on a light to stop one line of cars, the other line gets a green light. So, if a car is still in the intersection, you’ll cause a crash.

The only twist thrown into the game is the gas can. Sometimes, cars will run out of gas and stop in the middle of the road, blocking traffic. When this happens, you’ll need to tap on and drag the gas can to the car to fill it up. This makes things that much more crazy when you have a ton of cars lined up on the road. As you progress through each level, more and more cars make their way through the intersections, forcing you to stay on your toes and change the lights at just the right time.

The top left corner of the screen displays your current score, while the right side shows you the highest score achieved for the current level. You can also pause the game if things get too intense and you need a break. The game also includes Open Feint functionality, so you can compare your scores with people on the global leaderboard.

Graphics are nothing special, offering only simple images of cars and scenery. But, graphics really don’t matter in this type of game. It’s all about strategy, speed and overall addicting gameplay. Stop and Go is just plain old fun. However, there is one huge problem I hope will be fixed soon. The game has absolutely no sound or music! It just screams for engine noises, empty gas tank sounds, ambient traffic noise and crash sound effects with screeching tires! With some tense music thrown in, this game could really shine. However, even without the music, this game is still fun and I strongly recommend checking it out. You’ll keep on playing it for hours, if only to try and beat your previous score over and over again.
