Stragea is another real-time strategy game that can be found for the iPhone and iPod touch. The game is set in the ever-popular medieval time period with knights, towers, and lots of uninhabited landscape that just begs for battle. I\'m not a huge RTS fan myself, but I have enjoyed certain games for my PC and was excited to try out another contender for my iPhone.
But what I thought was going to be a quality RTS game turned out to be another simple app that I really could not get into. Don\'t get me wrong this app has plenty of features. It has different buildings and units that can be set up along with a simple resource gathering mechanic. Guard towers can be built and you must keep your Archon alive in order to build. But as I was playing I couldn\'t help but feel like this was a very watered-down version of what I\'ve come to know an RTS as.
The game seemed to be more about building as many units as fast as you can and I really struggled to find a huge need for strategy. Control of characters and building require more taps then necessary and become a hurdle to jump across every time I wanted to do something. The animations were simple and basic. After seeing games like Quantum Collapse hit the app store, this game feels like a kids version of what an iPhone RTS could be.
I suggest passing on this app and looking into some other options. It has the right idea in so many ways. But for your money, you can get some better apps out there. There is a light version in the app store so try it out and see if you agree with me.
