There are plenty of apps in the App Store that offer a simple gametype and really, there are so many that it can be hard to stand out among the crowd. All too often apps will simply copy the formula of another app and don’t really explore new options in gameplay. I’ve been lucky enough to try out plenty of apps that break the mold and also unfortunate enough to try a few duds.
While Surfacer+ doesn’t introduce a new type of gameplay, I would say that the app is one of the best of it’s kind. The object of the game is to fill a predetermined amount of the screen with circles in as little moves as possible. There are balls that bounce around the screen that will cancel your growing circles out and immediately present a challenge.
The game is basically a new take on Jezzball but without the need to trap each ball individually. The art and sounds in the game are excellent and the gameplay is some of the greatest casual gaming available. As you progress through levels, you will get to use the iPhone’s accelerometer to enable powerups and it becomes much more challenging. Overall, Surfacer is a great game to have on your phone. There is a free version in the App Store so check it out.
