Symbol6 is a fun casual game for the iphone and ipod touch. The game
has a very simple goal: match shapes and colors as quickly as possible
and avoid the wrong matches. In order to score points, the player has
to flick the symbols into the incoming shape's slot. Each successful
match will earn the player points, with point multipliers being added
for each consecutive match. If a match is missed, the "hexagon bar"
will breakdown and if too many are missed, the game will end. This bar
can be refilled when the next level is reached. Extra points can be
achieved by flicking the corresponding symbol out to meet the incoming
match. There are also destructive symbols that cannot be matched.

These
symbols must be blocked by rotating the hexagon which is done by
titling the device. If the destructive symbol is not blocked, it will
cause the symbols to change in some way to confuse the player. As the
player reaches higher levels, both regular and destructive symbols come
more frequently. When I first started playing symbol6, I was sure it
would become annoying and repetitive. But eventually the easy gameplay
and familiar arcade look to the game proved it to be a game worth
checking out. At the time of this review, the price for this app was
set at $3.99 in
the store. This makes checking it out a hard decision as we have seen
some much more detailed games come through with the same price. But
Symbol6 definitely holds its own as a well-designed game. For those fans
of Bejeweled or Hex, this game provides a similiar but unique approach
that will keep you coming back to achieve that high score. Definitely
check it out today.
