Target has released an app for the iPhone and iPod Touch in an attempt to help you with your holiday shopping. Unfortunately this app is just a lot of glitter covering possibly one of the most useless apps we?ve had a chance to review so far.
When you load up the app, you?ll be presented with a snow globe animation that looks beautiful. If there?s one thing they did right with this app, it?s the intro animation. After that, the app is all down hill. Your only real options at this point are to pick between male and female and then select the age of the person you?d like to find a gift for. After you do that, shake the app to see a random gift appear on your screen.
If you tap on the gift, you?ll get to see a menu that includes options to add the item to your favorites, find it at a Target store, buy it at Target.com, or start over. There are only two options that this app offers that don?t exit the app. Find it at a Target store will ask you for your zipcode and then search the inventory of the Target stores near you. Add to favorites will place the item in your favorites tab where the only additional option you have is to assign it to a contact in your phone or create a new contact.
Shaking your device to find random presents and helping you find a Target store near you is about all this app does. If you decide to buy the product online, the app kicks you out and loads up Safari. There really is no reason to download this app at all unless you enjoy randomly finding new items at Target without having to ever go into the store first.
