Games » The Secret Of Monkey Island Review

The Secret of Monkey Island was considered a gem of a game when it first came out in 1990. After seeing numerous sequels and remakes, the game has now made its way to the iPhone. It's known for its witty humor and rich content within the game. The game lasts quite a while and offers its players a story experience that is hard to find in many modern games.

The game focuses on the main character Guybrush Threepwood, a young man who naively wants to become a pirate and somewhat abruptly sets off to realize his dream. In his adventures he meets many wacky characters and solves many puzzles around the world on his quest to become a swashbuckling pirate. The controls in this game are the only thing that I could see anyone complaining about.

The game itself is a classic and an ingenious gameplay experience but the controls make it seems like more of a hassle.

The game is navigated by a point, click, and select action navigation system. One would think this would go together with the iPhone's touch interface perfectly but it doesn't with this implementation. Instead, the developers decided to make the players guide a pointer across the screen which was slightly annoying.

Overall, the game itself is definitely worth the price. It is a wonderful example of story and gameplay merged into one brilliant experience. I recommend trying this game out if you've never played it before. The game is available for pc for free on the internet, so grab that first and try it out then grab it for your iPhone or iPod touch.
