Tic A Tac Poker is an interesting strategy card game for the iPhone and iPod Touch with a really strong community feature to it. With three different game modes and different play options for each, Tic A Tac Poker is a great pick up and play game.
There are three different games you can play in Tic A Tac Poker. The first game is self titled and requires you to drag cards onto a tic tac toe board in an attempt to make three card combinations of poker hands. You?ll be going for pairs, three of a kind, straights, flushes, and royal flushes. Depending on whether you allowed discards for this game, you?ll be able to discard two, four, or six cards per round, with the goal being to get to 30 points per round to advance. The game is infinite so don?t get greedy, just try and beat the round.
Draw Poker is the second game mode. You can choose from three or five card draw, and you?re basically just playing the poker game draw except the winner gets to place one of their cards on the tic tac toe board.
Finishing a line with one card earns you normal points, while two or three cards in that line belonging to you will net you the appropriate multiplier. The final game mode in this game is Poker Challenge. Here you?ll be attempting to at least make the combination that the challenge requires on the tic tac toe board to advance. The levels are timed but you can cycle through all of your cards so you?re not going into it blind.
This game is one of the most frustratingly enjoyable games to hit the iPhone and iPod Touch. You?ll find yourself coming back to it more for the competitive score aspect than anything else. With a full online community that allows you to keep track of your score and compete for the highest ranking for each game, the ability to participate in a forum, and even see where your friends are playing this game from, this might be one of the strongest community based games we?ve seen so far. Hopefully we?ll see live multiplayer in the future, but regardless of that, this is a game worth checking out today.
