There have been a few golfing games on the iPhone but none of them have really ever caught my attention for more than a bit. Each game played well but grew old after a while. Tiger Woods PGA Tour is the latest golf game out and is by far the most appealing that I have played. The game features 3D graphics and a custom control scheme that blends perfectly well with the iPhone and iPod Touch hardware.

Right from the beginning players can choose to create a character and start playing or begin a PGA Tour bout against some of the most challenging players in the game. Controls are handled by touching the screen and sliding your finger backwards for power and forwards for direction. They handled wonderfully and really brought some entertaining aspects to the game. The app features over 120 holes on 7 different courses in the world boasting a surprising amount of content for a handheld game. Each hole has its own feel and really forces the player to plan out their shot and swing with precision. The controls moved the ball exactly how I expected them to but sometimes became just a little bit too easy. That being said, I did find plenty of holes that were extremely hard to reach anything better than par.

Overall, the game plays wonderfully smooth and has enough content to keep players enthused for hours. For the golfing enthusiast or even the casual gamer, this game will provide an entertaining experience that can be both tranquil and adrenaline filled as the ball comes ever closer to the hole.
