Tradewinds 2 is a trading game also known as a tycoon game in which the object is to gain as much money has possible through trading and plundering. It is based off its PC counterpart that was released back in the day. Set in the days of pirates and sailing for adventure on the high seas, this game is meant to give players a relaxing experience with a more economic-based gameplay.
There are two different modes of play for players to choose from. There is the Story Mode where different tasks and missions need to be completed in order to advance and there is the Free Trade Mode where players will trade their goods in attempt to build their fortune to epic proportions. The game is all about money. Each port has its own unique prices on goods depending on what time of the year it is and it is up to the player to figure out when to buy goods and when to sell them. With more money, ships can be bought that are faster, stronger and carry more goods.
There are banks that can hold money, lenders who will provide loans with interest and different markets to buy and sell from. Each time a player travels to a new port, they run the risk of encountering pirates or storms which can take your goods and money if you are not careful. Different upgrades can be bought to fight off these menaces and return to your port to sell for profit.
The game ran smooth and felt more like an older time game. But the overall concept kept me going and kept me trying to sell my cotton for the best price. The music in the game sometimes grew annoying but there is a feature to listen to your own music with the sound effects which made for some awesome gameplay when I cranked up my Pirates of the Caribbean Soundtrack.
Overall, I recommend this game for those who like building up your money reserves and don't need much action in a game. It is set at a medium price so it really is a toss up.
