SUMMARY: Get a tower upgrade from your Twitter account in this unique tower defense game

Tweet Defense is a tower defense game that attempts to stand out from the crowd by incorporating a unique feature not found in other games of the same genre. In this game, you must strategically place weapon towers around the map in order to stop zombies from passing through to the other side. Your towers start off incredibly weak, until you give them a boost with your Twitter account. That’s right, your towers become more powerful when you log in with your Twitter account. Is this a creative idea? Yes. Does it make the game more fun than other TD games? It absolutely does not.

This game is deceiving when you first look at it. The graphics look great and the idea of Twitter integration into the gameplay is intriguing. However, it’s not until you start playing the game do you realize how disappointing it really is. Besides the Twitter part, this is one of the most basic TD games there is. You get ten maps, six towers and only five enemies. You purchase towers, drag them onto the map and wait for the zombies to march past. The towers are pretty basic as well, offering the nail gun, catapult tower, flamethrower, gloob gun, electric tower and booster tower. The gloob gun slows enemies down and the booster tower makes all the towers in range more powerful. The booster tower is what you get when you log into your Twitter account.

Even though you don’t need a Twitter account to play this game, it’s almost a requirement, so that you don’t get so frustrated that you delete the game after only a few minutes. The game is incredibly difficult without the extra boost your Twitter account gives your towers. With the boost, you are practically guaranteed to win the game each and every time.

You also have the ability to upgrade your towers. But, it’s not like other games where your tower grows larger and actually appears more powerful. Here, they appear the same as before, and the only significant increase is in its range. Upgrading towers is not nearly as gratifying as in other TD games.

The most upsetting part about this game has to be the graphics and sound. The graphics look great in the menu screens, but leave much to be desired in the actual game. The sound is even worse! The gunfire is repetitive and just doesn’t sound like a quality sound effect. When the zombies die, their grown is even more annoying, and it’s the same sound each time. There should be a variety of quality sound effects to pull the user into the game. Tweet Defense just doesn’t deliver.

The only reason for purchasing this app is if you are a tower defense fanatic or a zombie freak. Otherwise, save your money and buy Fieldrunners instead.
